DOMINICA CITIZENSHIP

With many anticipated projects on Dominica’s busy schedule, Tranquility Beach is one of the many environmentally-sensitive resorts expected to transform the island, its ecotourism and the lives of its citizens

Tranquility Beach is an upcoming luxury boutique resort operating under Hilton’s exclusive Curio Collection. The project, led by fellow Dominican Ian Edwards, is being developed in the west coast town of Salisbury, situated on a dramatic cliff edge, dotted with suspended villas, with stretching views of the Caribbean Sea. Once completed, the resort will host up to 73 rooms comprising two- and three-bedroom villas and condo suites. World-class amenities and features include infinity pools, a spa and wellness centre, a fine-dining restaurant, private event spaces and more.

Investors that wish to become citizens of Dominica have two choices: either contribute to the government’s Economic Diversification Fund (EDF) or buy into selected real estate, such as Tranquility Beach and many more. Those who choose the real estate route also gain access to a variety of choices with each property adopting a philosophy rooted in sustainability. Both routes require applicants to pass due diligence checks, which are considered the strongest amongst all CBI programmes, as mirrored in the latest CBI Index published by Financial Times’ PWM magazine.

Dominica, aptly named the Nature Isle of the Caribbean, boasts 365 rivers, several waterfalls, rainforests and an impressive mountainous landscape, with an unusual hiking trail popular with tourists. After Hurricane Maria in 2017, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit pledged to make Dominica the “world’s first climate resilient nation”. The announcement received international support from the likes of the United Kingdom, the World Bank and the former US president Bill Clinton. Ever since, Dominica has been investing in climate resilience and developing and abiding by construction codes that make the island’s buildings and infrastructure hurricane-proof.
